Mock Days

Mock Days are special days (by appointment only) where prospective AHB students (& sometimes a few current AHB kiddos) come and participate in some fun, hands-on activities with AHB teachers. Though a Mock Day only lasts about two hours, it gives families and teachers a good indication of whether or not AHB is a good fit for a particular child.

We know that the idea of a Mock Day can be scary for young kids, and we strive to make these days full of fun - not pressure. Parents are welcome to hang out in our lobby during this time and chat with other parents, or in the classroom, as long as it's not a distraction to the kids. Going to school at Austin Home Base is definitely a "family venture." Parent participation and dedication are key in creating the community atmosphere that makes AHB so unique.

Parent Interviews

The parent interview is a comfortable, low-stress get-together attended by both parents of an applicant (if possible), Georgie, and a current AHB parent. Because families play such a special and valuable role at Austin Home Base, this is a good time to ensure that our program is a good fit for your family. In order for you to feel comfortable speaking freely about your child, we ask that children not attend these meetings, which generally last between forty-five minutes and an hour.

Feel free to bring a list of questions; we'd be happy to answer them! If your child is applying for the Beta, Gamma or Delta class, please bring your child's last report card or a sample of his/her work. If your child is applying for the Delta class, you will need to schedule a student interview in addition (which generally follows the parent interview).

Austin Home Base admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and school-administered programs.
